Rhondda, 1945) is a British sociologist, historian and gay activist. He has been described as:
- "the most significant British intellectual working on sexuality to emerge from the radical sexual movements of the 1970s".
He was Professor of Sociology at London South Bank University from 1994 until his retirement in 2008, and Executive Dean of Arts and Human Sciences from 2003 to 2008.
His works include:
- Coming Out: Homosexual Politics in Britain from the Nineteenth Century to the Present, Quartet Books 1977; 2nd revised edition, with new chapter and bibliography, 1990
- Between the Acts. Lives of Homosexual Men 1885-1967 (with Kevin Porter), Routledge, 1990; 2nd edition, with new Preface, Rivers Oram Press, 1998.
